A land management system that rewards soil quality and biodiversity restoration by regularly producing valuable harvest

Identification
The Biodiversity Incubator combines the renaturing of degraded land and restoration of biodiversity with the removal of greenhouse gases while allowing considerate reaping of plant harvest. It upholds the triple bottom line creating positive impact on people, planet, and profit. Degraded land regenerates over time while providing work and revenue to the local population. After repayment of initial investment, annual revenues from harvest sustain care and maintenance and act as a safeguarding value chain remunerating continuous restoration efforts. It does not compete for fertile (food) land and is established on previously non-farmed land (additionality). Artificial irrigation is not needed. Enhanced drought protection of the perennial plants makes it better prepared for climate adaption. The solution endorses transparency, traceability, and accountability of all stakeholders. It supports directly or indirectly almost all UN sustainability goals (SDGs).

- •Removes greenhouse gases by retaining 80% of the air captured CO2 from the atmosphere with a performance of net 5 tCO2e/year and hectare or higher
- •Restores soil and fosters biodiversity by increasing organic soil content
- •Growing of the primary plant seeds on soils with high initial concentration of heavy metals (e.g. mining areas) reduces through phytoremediation the level of contamination over short time periods by 30-70%.
