Identification

The solution, certified and guaranteed second-life batteries, is an innovative battery in the field of stationary storage. It uses the best rechargeable lithium technologies, chosen by OEMs for their technical characteristics, safety aspects and reliability. The solution is therefore perfectly suited to the stationary sector, where the stress constraints are generally lower than those of electric mobility, and at a systematically lower price than that of new lithium batteries, which allows the customer to make his project economically profitable. It can be used to provide energy to support the grid during high demand cycles or to store intermittently produced energy to release it during non-production phases. It can also be used to quickly recharge vehicles at the terminals, to optimise electricity consumption prices. Clients are energy service companies (integrators), who will use the Solution in their own products (e.g. self-consumption cabinets).

Implementation Stories

FNX MODULES by Snam Groupe
Implemented by Snam Group in Aubin (France) in 2019

The French company Sirea has been developing energy storage cabinets designed to optimize the use of intermittent energy produced by photovoltaic panels and to promote self-con- sumption practices. To equip its self-consumption cabinets, Sirea has used second life lithium batteries since 2019: FNX modules. For Sirea, the price of a second life battery is 20% lower than a new lithium battery, and this for a certified product, guaranteed for 10 years (or 3650 cycles).

Result

Roi of the self-consumption cabinet, equipped with the fnx modules, is evaluated between 6 and 7 years

The environmental benefits

  • FNX MP14 and FNX MS 14 modules are configured to deliver 48 V outpu and each is available in 3 models: 2.5 KWh, 3 KWh and 3.5 KWh
  • Industrial size, 19" rack (4U)
  • The systems are guaranteed for 3,650 cycles, i.e. 10 years of service at the rate of one cycle per day (depending on contractual conditions of use, consult us for specific use)
  • Extending the life of a battery used in eco-mobility to 10 years
  • At the end of its second life, more than 69 % of the battery will be recycled by sister company SNAM
  • A global very low environmental footprint compared to a new lithium battery (e.g. limiting the mining of raw materials and their transport)
04.

The Financial benefits

  • More than 20% cheaper than mainstream alternative (new lithium batteries)
  • Return on investment: system amortized between 6 and 7 years
