Yangi supports brands and converters in achieving their sustainability targets by helping them transform their packaging portfolio into new alternative renewable and sustainable packaging solutions. They assist their partners from ideation through implementation by developing and selling production solutions for dry forming including a turn-key manufacturing machine platform as well as added value services such as customised material recipes, materials on subscription, and ready-made design concepts. Converters and brands can move into more sustainable packaging solutions that offer competitive production costs, fully renewable raw materials and resource-efficient production. Practically speaking, their dry forming technology is a combination of air-laid formation and fast pressing that utilizes cellulose fibres to create 3D-formed packaging without using process water. Cellulose materials fulfil the key requirements of recyclability, rigidity and 3D formation. Yangi can produce 3D-formed packaging directly from cellulose pulp in one machine line at a 30% lower cost than existing fibre-based solutions, with minimal water and less energy use, resulting in a 75% reduction in CO2 emissions. Also, compared to other cellulose materials, dry formed packaging is unique in terms of shapeability, aesthetics, and appearance. Depending on packaging requirements, barrier chemistry can be added in the process or added in a separate sequence afterward.
