About

Driven by the emerging next generation AI/CV technologies it is now a viable venture to measure by direct photographic record plastic waste on our coastlines. This provides a much needed tool for existing and future players in the “Ocean Health” space with two important (and missing) aspects. 1. An assist in choosing appropriate projects, targeted in the appropriate manner, based on data driven strategies. 2. To enable a results orientated, measurable impact, of the investments made. The database records both a snapshot of existing plastic waste on beaches and coastlines and provides detail of the evolution of said waste. The data acquisition is done in several phases and through multiple channels. Phase 1: mostly visible plastic bottle count growing from regional to global capture through our Advanced AI and computer vision used to detect and count waste from the photographic record. Status: App and AI based engine complete. Access, at launch, to a captive boating population of 1.5M and 100M existing pictures of coastlines. Phase 2: Measure Global Microplastic concentrations and their evolution from automated spectrometry on drone/aircraft/satellite platforms.
