Energy Observer
The first hydrogen vessel around the world on a 6 year Odyssey for the future : 50 countries, 101 stopovers
Energy Observer is the first hydrogen vessel, autonomous in energy, with zero greenhouse gas emissions or fine particles. This vessel of the future is powered by electric propulsion thanks to a mix of renewable energies and a hydrogen production system that produces carbon-free hydrogen on board using seawater. This scientific and technological feat aims to test, in extreme conditions, these pioneer technologies which will foreshadow tomorrow’s energy networks, applicable on land. Energy Observer is currently carrying out its six-year odyssey for the future (2017-2022), with 50 countries and 101 ports of call to build the public’s awareness of the ecological transition by highlighting major themes such as renewable energies, biodiversity and circular economy mobility during its stopovers, via social media and through a collection of documentaries. This world tour is led by Victorien Erussard, founder and captain, and Jérôme Delafosse, expedition leader and documentary producer.
