Airborne wind energy has several advantages compared to other renewable energy solutions. AWE reduces the material consumption with 90% compared to traditional wind turbines. It has no need for huge foundations, no need for a tower and uses only one kite instead of three blades. This leads to a lower cost of equipment and an easier installation process. AWE utilizes higher altitude winds that are faster and more stable resulting in a higher capacity factor than other renewable energy technologies. This higher energy production combined with a lower capex gives an unmatched levelized cost of energy that is competitive with todays energy prices. Furthermore at higher altitudes the winds are more stable and lead to more available locations that are suited for AWE.  

Kitemill is a leading player within this new industry field and has demonstrated more than an hour of automatic energy production. Later during 2018, Kitemill will demonstrate 24h automatic energy production.
