Topolytics aggregates and analyses waste data at scale and generates insights for large companies that produce waste, recyclers and waste collectors and processors, governments and investors. In essence, we use data science to make the world’s ‘downstream materials’ system more visible, so that the data is verifiable and we can unlock the value across this system. Our analytics engine, WasteMap, ingests live and reference data on commercial, industrial and post-consumer waste from multiple sources and systems, then uses machine learning and mapping to make sense of this complex web of materials movements – in essence generating actionable insights from a more trusted data set. For example, the UK Government has commissioned Topolytics to create a system to digitally track the many hundreds of millions of waste movements across the UK each year. In 2019, we were picked by SAP and Google Cloud, from 250 companies worldwide, as the scaleable, commercial technology that can drive the circular economy.
