WOODOO
Woodoo: molecularly enhanced advanced wood materials
Context: The construction industry features 2.5B tons of CO2 emissions per year. By 2050, 75% of humanity will live in cities. We now face a scarcity of non-renewable natural ressources and materials' costs are on the rise (16% increase for steel in 2017, looming shortage of sand). Conclusion: To face these major environmental and demographic challenges, we need advanced low carbon footprint renewable materials. Solution: Woodoo transforms low-grade wood into high-performance materials. Through a patented bio-chemical process, the material becomes weatherproof, fire-resistant, sturdier, lightweight, and translucent. It is 100% made from renewable resources, and 100% carbon neutral. The material is now at the pre-industrial stage and will be produced in small series in 2018. Applications: Automotive, aeronautics, furnishing and construction industries. The patented technology initiated at Harvard University received 23 international awards in 2017 including MIT European Innovator of the Year, WEF Global Shaper, CleanTech Open Global Ideas, Climate KIC and the European Commission.

Molecularly Enhanced Wood Materials
Woodoo has developed a process that turns wood into a low-carbon footprint, high-performance material, opening new opportunities for its use in construction, automobiles and aeronautics.
