-20% operating hours of urban cleaning vehicles
Clean & sustainable cities by Cortexia implemented by Stadtentsorgung Potsdam GmbH in Potsdam (Germany) in 2022
In the period from July-August 2023, the measured CCI for total Potsdam was 4.486. During the same period, it was found that at certain prominent locations in the city the CCI was way below that value, meaning heavy littering affecting the environment. Namely the Bassinplatz with a CCI of only 3.532, and the Platz der Einheit with a CCI of 3.990. As a result, more/larger waste bins were installed at the end of 2023 and beginning of 2024 and creatively promoted. If we compare above figures with the same period (July-August) in 2024, we see a huge impact of these measures, meaning that a large amount of paper, plastic, cigarette butts and other waste categories did not end up on the street and in the environment. While the CCI for total Potsdam more or less stayed the same (4.447 vs. 4.486), the CCI for the prominent locations in focus strongly increased. The CCI of the Bassinplatz in July-August 2024 was 3.822 (vs. 3.532 in 2023), while we see an even bigger effect looking at the Platz der Einheit, with a CCI of 4.416 (vs. 3.990 in 2023).
