Identification
The e.VAV aims to provide a simple solution to control indoor air quality in tertiary buildings and schools. In addition to the controlled mechanical ventilation, the e.VAV is a self-sufficient and connected system that requires no extra wiring when installed in the building air ducts. It helps to keep the best indoor air quality to provide a healthy environment for the staff, the students, and the building itself. The operating principle is based on harvesting the mechanical energy directly from the ventilation in ducts. It induces the rotation of a turbine having a magnet on its axle. On the stator, a magneto-electric energy harvester converts the rotating magnetic field into electric charges stored in the product to power environmental sensors (temperature, HR, CO2), to counteract the environment (actuator + irises), and to communicate data onto the Cloud (LoRaWan protocol).

The environmental benefits
- •Adjusts ventilation systems to optimize them during all the building life cycle, reducing the energy consumption by 30% compared to a standard ventilation system with constant air volume dampers
- •By using an energy harvester, the replacement of 1 to 6 AA batteries per year of usage and per system can be avoided (one system per room)
- •The energy harvester avoids external power supply, so there is no 24/230V transformer and no cabling
- •Good indoor air quality results in healthy impact on the people reducing the Building Sick Syndrom by at least 15%, it also has an impact on the building health (less mold and humidity)
- •The energy harvester avoids heavy maintenance compared to a system with battery that would induce many travels from the maintenance team and unnecessary battery replacement
