Identification
Each year 16 thousand tons of solid pneumatic waste are dumped in the final disposal site of waste in the city of Mar del Plata, which is incinerated, buried or thrown into the sea, generating 4 tons of CO2 for each tons of poorly managed tires on average. Pneumatic material is an excellent insulator, withstands all inclement weather and, since it cannot be degraded, its final common disposal solutions are to bury it, to incinerate it or to throw it into different ecosystems. The Solution EcoTiles offers the possibility of reusing these resources, transforming them into rubber tiles. In this way, it is possible to achieve a sustainable action with positive multi-impacts for the communities carrying it out: no public space is used with containers full of wheels, which later becomes a highly toxic waste if they are incinerated, buried, or thrown it away to the sea or in abandoned properties, with the risk of contamination and insect pests that this entails. In addition, they are given a new use and are turned into tiles, at a lower cost than a traditional roof.

The environmental benefits

- •More tenacious than non-ecological classic roof tiles, so it won't break with hail

- •Reuse of waste. For a 3x3 square meter roof I use 135 tiles, that is, 19 car wheels are reused, which would be thrown into the environment

- •On average it has 20 years more durability than mainstream alternative. Both materials have a long lifetime but environmental conditions like hail reduce only the lifetime of the alternative
