Facilitating industrial symbiosis for the chemicals industry

Identification
Industrial symbiosis – the process by which by‐products of an industry become the raw materials for another – is a very good answer to the current environmental and economic challenges of the European industry. However, such process is not always easy to implement in reality.
Since more than 25 years, Solvakem valorise more than 20'000 tons of chemical by-products/wastes per year, including acids, bases, solvents, salts, alcohols, glycols, amines, paints and plasticisers. This means that such yearly amount of materials are not incinerated nor landfilled, leading to a significant reduction in the use of new limited resources and an important Carbon footprint reduction.
