The Environmental Benefits
- •The 200 million container shipped every year by sea generate close to 500 million tons CO2eq and Greensee can reduce these emissions by 20% by optimizing energy use and operations
- •eFuel needed for the maritime industry is huge (over 300,000 tons of fossil fuel used per year) and limited eFuel production and high cost won't make low carbon fuel available for the industry until 2035 at best (DNV 09/23 report)
- •CO2 taxes (EU ETS) will generate close to $20 billion per year , for Europe alone, in 2026 and most of these taxes will generate surcharges for end users in the range of 100€/shipment
- •AI based shipping operation can reduce CO2 emissions by 100 million tons per year, with no investment, using existing data, yielding immediate RoI for carriers and shippers
- •IMO targets of 30% emission reductions by 2030 will be met when the industry use AI and data analytics to optimize shipping and when shipping lines become daat centric organizations
- •The UNCTAD report found that up to $28 billion would be required annually to decarbonize ships by 2050

- •Carbon capture, efuel retrofit, in the maritime industry are risky and long term solutions which won't meet IMO 2030 targets
