Identification

The Solution aims at removing atmospheric carbon and storing it away for hundreds of years, by extracting and stabilizing carbon from crop residues in tropical developing countries, in the form of a product called "biochar". Biochar can be incorporated into soils where it remains stable for hundreds of years. In parallel, incorporating biochar in soils allows to improve soil health and crop productivity, and reduces the usage of fertilizers. Last, the production process of biochar allows to generate renewable electricity.
