Sign upA stepstone towards circular economy in the textile and fashion industry
With the simple change of a bobbin on the sewing machine, our customers’ products become part of an efficient sorting, disassembly and recycling process powered by Resortecs’ solutions and technologies.
The fast fashion’s business model is built on overproduction of low-quality textile products that mainly end up in incineration yards due to the absence of efficient sorting processes for recycling. This results in increasing greenhouse gasses, depletion of resources and land exploitation, thus putting local communities at risk and jeopardizing the planet’s wellbeing. Zippers and buttons make textile products recycling complicated as the removal of such details calls for manual assistance, making the process both costly and time consuming. Resortecs® solves this problem by supplying a stitching thread for seams that melts at specific temperatures matching the materials and use requirements of the textile product. When needed, the finished product can then be dismantled in Resortecs® continuous and automatic disassembly ovens. By helping brands to recycle their products and components, Resortecs® makes brands reduce their environmental footprint, while slashing their inventory costs.
Smart Stitch™ by Resortecs, Recycling Made Easy.
Implemented by Unspun in New york (United States) in 2021
Resortecs® has partnered with Unspun to create the most sustainable pair of jeans on the market. Developed as part of the Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s Jeans Redesign program, the jeans combine the unspun company’s inventory-free systems of production with pioneering Resortecs® smart stitch threads (which can be heated and dissolved to make recycling more feasible) and a scannable QR Code to provide customers circular care instructions, and share key circularity data with resellers and recyclers. This establishes a new model for circular denim, showcasing how players across the supply chain can work collaboratively to deliver a sustainable and stakeholder-driven product to end consumers.
