Renewable energy sources must replace fossil fuels. Stellio believes that solar energy is the single most important renewable energy source but there are challenges to overcome such as electricity cost and generation intermittency. Both of these are tackled by Stellio Heliostat, providing low cost dispatchable solar electricity using solar-thermal power tower plants with large integrated thermal energy storage and Stellio Heliostat fields. Stellio's key technical data including an optimized reflective area of 48.5 m², high tracking accuracy (better than 0.6 mrad @ 4 m/s) and high optical quality (sigmaxy below 1.6 mrad). Overall, Stellio Heliostat appropriate size and precise optics at low manufacturing costs result in a significantly improved cost/performance ratio, and thus in lower electricity generation costs.

The Environmental Benefits

  • Reduction of over 90 % of CO2-emissions compared to coal-fired power plant
  • Up to 10 % higher field efficiency thanks to higher optical, tracking accuracy and superior field layout resulting in 10% reduced field area

The Financial Benefits

  • Reduces CAPEX from 10% to 30 % compared to standard T-Type heliostats
  • Reduces OPEX by 30% thanks to a reduced area to be cleaned, low power consumption and easy maintenance
