About
AgroSustain is a Swiss-based company that developed and commercialized edible coating, a solution that permits to preserve the quality of fruits and cut-flowers from harvest to the end consumer.
The coating of AgroSustain (Afondo) is composed of edible emulsifiers and vegetable oils and is thus compatible with all diets, including vegan. Afondo can be applied in the packing house by spraying or bathing using existing machinery. Upon its application, Afondo forms an invisible layer on the crop surface that provides the following benefits:
-Reduction of water loss by 35%;
- Reduction of post-harvest treatments, including fungicides, by 50%;
- Extension of shelf-life during cold storage, depending on the crop type, between two weeks to one month;
- Afondo doesn't impact the natural crop ripening and thus can be applied directly at the grower;
- The commercial sales reveal that Afondo permits the reduction of waste at the retailer by up to 55%.
